ALEX & EMMA

Alexandra founded The Bijou Studio eleven years ago as a way to blend her design and event planning expertise (honed through her work with film premieres and PR launches) with her simple yet profound love for unforgettable celebrations. What initially began as a fashion stylist’s wedding blog (back in the days when blogs were just journals) progressed to curating bridal brand campaigns and writing for wedding magazines, before swiftly evolving into something much more significant after training as an international wedding planner.

Meanwhile, Emma’s career had led her to be the senior event manager at the renowned Aynhoe Park, an iconic venue nestled in the picturesque Cotswolds. It was there that fate intervened, bringing her into Alex’s orbit as they collaborated on a numerous weddings. Their instant connection and shared passion for events (as well as a great cocktail, animals, fast cars and movies!) set the stage for future collaboration; the seeds were sown to collaborate and expand The Bijou Studio.

And that is exactly what we did. With the invaluable support of a network of amazingly talented suppliers and vendors, we have had the pleasure of working hand in hand with busy professionals and imaginative couples from across the globe. We have crafted dream weddings and exceptional events across the UK and Europe alongside captivating commercial styling projects.

We each bring unique and valuable skills to the table. Alex has a natural talent for styling and can turn any space into a beautiful and elegant setting. On the other hand, Emma excels in handling complicated logistics and managing spreadsheets with precision. Our combined strengths create a complete package; we believe that a successful event requires both eye-catching aesthetics and meticulous planning, a balanced blend of creativity and precision. It’s not just about the looks; it’s about orchestrating a seamless experience that people will remember long after it’s over.  Throughout every venture, our guiding principles remain the same – to create heartfelt, truly magnificent experiences with personalised touches and thoughtful details at every turn.

  • Head of Event Production

“I have worked on some truly amazing celebrations over the years, ranging from A-list celebrity birthday parties to intimate weddings, but my ethos remains the same throughout, and that is to exceed expectations. I like to ensure that the whole planning process is as enjoyable as possible and fits into your busy life, as opposed to takes it over! I also think it’s really important to consider how the event will feel as well as look; how you and your guests felt on the day will stay with you, and them, for a very long time”.

Emma’s approach to event planning is a mix of creativity but also military precision – not only will your event look amazing, but it will flow perfectly too. Emma is also our resident venue expert, available to consult for new and existing event venues on everything from staffing to pricing packages.

FAQs

  • We are based in the UK in both London and Birmingham, so it’s very easy for us to get to everything in-between! We are very happy to travel far and wide, including internationally, so are not limited by where we are based.

  • All of the time. Most of our clients are actually based in the USA, and we even have a couple that are based on a boat and sailing the world! Wherever you call home, our approach is the same - super flexible to suit your needs. We don’t limit our working hours to 9-to-5, nor do we restrict communication to email only. Call us, WhatsApp us, Zoom us when it works for you.

  • Yes of course! If home is your venue of dreams, we will work with you to make it happen. We carefully consider all of the logistics and site limitations with our trusted suppliers, minimising disruption, seeking all necessary local permits, and more.

  • Usually, we ask for 20% of our fee as a deposit, with the other four instalments invoiced accordingly between booking us and the event itself. However, if there is an arrangement that works better for you, we are very happy to be flexible and adapt the above to suit.

  • We don’t make any choices or decisions on your behalf - you are very much in control! We make suggestions and give advice based on our extensive experience, but you always have the final say. We are in no way interested in forcing our personal taste on you; we are here to create a wedding that is uniquely you, beautifully and precisely executed with our expert eye and experience.

  • Yes, and we love to do so! Please contact us if you are interested in an overseas celebration; we would love to chat through your ideas!

  • Of course! Part of our job is to work out what you are likely to spend, or will need to spend if you have specific ideas already in place. Please contact us if this sounds like you; we are more than happy to explain how we can work together to set a budget you are comfortable with.

  • Not at all. We have suppliers that we have worked with on multiple occasions, but that also happens to be because they are right for our clients’ plans and budget. We aren’t shy to admit that we don’t know every supplier in the UK or further afield so are always happy to work with new ones, whether they are new to the industry or new to us. As long as a supplier is the right fit for you and your budget and can demonstrate the same commitment to exceeding expectations as we do, we are happy to work with them!

  • No. We strongly believe in our own experience, expertise and what we bring to the table, therefore we charge you a fair and fixed fee to reflect that. If a supplier does want to pass on a monetary ‘thank you’ for booking them, we ask that it be a discount to you, not money to us. Not taking commissions allows us to work with any supplier, vendor or venue of any size, not just those that are financially advantageous to us. We don’t pay any suppliers directly so there is full transparency with invoicing and budget, too.
