NKOTWB – WEDDING CAKE DESIGNER SPECIAL
Nothing beats a slice of cake – celebration, commiseration , come rain or shine there’s a cake for every occasion. And la pièce de résistance, your Wedding cake should be perfectly suited to both the day and your personality; flavour, shape, decoration there is a lot to think about. I’m sure this week’s NKOTWB wedding cake designer special will inspire and delight you, it is mouthwateringly good even if I do say so myself.
EMILY HARMSTON CAKES
Winner of this year’s bridalNEXT! cake category, wedding cake designer P-J (the company is named after her Grandmother who nurtured her sweet tooth!) deserves every accolade. Just study that Raspberry Ripple and White Chocolate Eclair cake above – bet you haven’t seen one of those at another wedding. P-J conjures up these beautiful creations without forgetting the key to a good cake, the flavour. Painstakingly developing every element to ensure the flavours and design suit your personal tastes and the celebration, I guarantee that your guests will be back for seconds. A real wizard with sugar, P-J could give Willy Wonka a run for his money having also developed these edible bouquets, a sweet treat that will keep your flower girls entertained – just don’t tell them before the ceremony!

CHARM CITY CAKES WEST
One for my stateside brides, Charm City Cakes West located in Hollywood create an elegant yet playful collection of wedding cakes each year inspired by the season’s fashion trends. I love that Anna Ellison and Katherine St. Paul Hill, the creative wedding cake designers at Charm City Cakes West, approach their baking just like fashion designers with seasonal ranges based on where their aesthetic interests lie in that moment. The Clara wedding cake above is my personal fave, that ball like first tier is something I’ve not seen anywhere else.

TUCK-BOX
Another discovery from A Most Curious Wedding Fair – Tuck Box’s romantic constructions that are anything but boring. Creative Director Chris Murphy explains how he aims “to tell each couple’s story through the art of cake” which of course sounds like my kinda story telling. The cakes are whimsical, delicious and guaranteed to make a statement on your big day.

SCARLETT LOVES CAKE
And now for something completely different, hand painted wedding cake masterpieces. Cake designer Simon set up his bespoke business in 2008 due to his love of baking delicious treats for his daughter (Scarlett, note the name) but there is nothing childish about his designs. A graduate of Art & Design college, Simon offers something unique, creative and spectacularly beautiful with each cake created hand finished with a fine sweep of the artist’s brush.

KALEIDOSCOPE BAKERY
Last but by no means least the chic and incredibly unique Kaleidoscope Bakery. Specialist in wedding cake designer textures like the mouthwatering pink coconut cake above and bespoke iced cookies – miu miu shoes, tattoo birds, place cards, origami cranes they can make it all.
