THURSDAY THREADS – STEWART PARVIN 2016 BRIDAL COLLECTION
This week’s Thursday Threads focuses on British bridal fashion royalty, Mr Stewart Parvin. The acclaimed luxury designer is celebrating a 20th anniversary, that’s 20 years of sophisticated wedding dress styles and even a Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen.
I was one of the lucky few to be invited to an intimate launch, reminiscent of 1950’s Parisian couture shows (think Audrey Hepburn classic Funny Face). I can report that the Stewart Parvin 2016 bridal collection stays true to his signature sophisticated and understated styling whilst experimenting with new fabrics and modern silhouettes.
In terms of the new fabric choices, Louisa Shipstone, Senior Brand Manager says: “The new collection represents a departure from the traditional and classically bridal Alencón laces used previously. The tone of the collection certainly captures Stewart’s chic, understated aesthetic, for which he is so well known and this season focusses on flattering A-line silhouettes and soft fluidity, creating a distinctly relaxed look…His aesthetic is quite literally stitched into the fibre of each dress.”
I was particularly taken with the slinkier designs, masterfully constructed to fit and flare in all the right places.
And to finish with something a little different, a wedding dress for the Safari loving bride…
