REAL BIJOU BRIDE – CLAIRE’S PINK DIY WEDDING
Claire and Steve’s summer wedding had a rustic picnic theme and just like a typical British picnic it was nearly marred by rain – “we were so lucky with the weather, it chucked it down just up the road.” With a passion for pink, bride Claire created something truly unique and managed to DIY a lot of the design. Needless to say the day was just perfect and Steve of Bridgwood Wedding Photography chronicled it superbly.
BRIDE
For the girl that loves pink, a white wedding dress just wouldn’t cut it. Claire fell in love with this incredible Ian Stuart design, the Cuvee Rose, fit for a princess. Although pink was the dominant colour, Claire cleverly mixed in pastel shades to compliment the pink throughout the wedding including the bridesmaids dresses.
GROOM
Steve opted for the formal grey morning suit but in keeping with Claire’s pink wishes incorporated a pink waistcoat and tie. To match those incredible fabric bouquets the groomsmen all wore matching buttonholes.
DECOR
Claire is one of the most creative brides I’ve encountered, just look at the amazing decor developed to match her rustic summer picnic theme. Picnic baskets sat atop moss covered tree stumps holding down giant balloon centrepieces, alternating burlap and lace covered chairs, wrapped cutlery and mini picnic baskets hosting the wedding favors – woah. This scale of DIY is such a commitment and luckily Claire planned early, roping in friends and family to help along the way.
Even the Ice Cream trike was pink!
It wasn’t just the decor that this bride took on as a pink DIY wedding project, Claire also put together an indulgent sweet patisserie for her guests. And yes that is a giant rice krispy cake!
The whooping 5 tier, show-stopper pink wedding cake was baked by the bride’s cousin Rob. Those DIY skills clearly run in the family.
WORDS OF WISDOM
“My advice for anyone planning a wedding is do as much as you can as early as you can. If everything is prepared beforehand you can relax and enjoy the day. I would also say you can never be specific enough with instructions, if you want something doing a particular way make sure you tell the person/people doing it , it’s your day and you are paying for it.”
A big bravo to Claire and Steve for their creativity and THAT amazing pink wedding dress.
