WEDDING WEDNESDAY – HITCHCOCK INSPIRED SHOOT
After being talked about all year, The Girl starring Sienna Miller will finally hits our screens this weekend and I for one am very excited about it. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s the HBO/ BBC TV movie about Alfred Hitchcock’s obsession with Tippi Hedren, the star of The Birds. It also inspired the lovely Caro Hutchings and myself to recreate some iconic Hitchcock scenes in the Wedding context, as something a little different to inspire you brides to be.
Tippi Hedren spends a lot of the movie running from the dreaded birds and Caro captured some great shots of our model in motion. A vintage feather headpiece would be a great alternative to a veil for the 1950’s loving brides. I find a black feather headpiece on dark hair creates a unique and unexpected effect.
It wouldn’t be a Hitchcock inspired shoot without a play on the famous Psycho shower scene.
Rear Window is one of my favourite Hitchcock movies, it is so full of tension and of course Grace Kelly looks divine throughout. You can just picture this Oh My Honey Wedding dress on Grace Kelly, the nipped in waist and full skirt create such a beautiful silhouette. An embellished belt or oversized sash would make the look personal to you and your Wedding day.
Kari teamed smokey eye make up with vintage rolls to create this Grace Kelly inspired look.
Dial M for Murder also starred Grace Kelly and this Wedding stationery design by Golden Apple would be perfect for building a buzz amongst your guests about the Wedding day.
And one final Hithcock reference to inspired you, this time from Vertigo where Kim Novak runs up and down a lot of stairs, to say anything else would spoil it for you.
So what do you make of your Hitchcock inspired shoot? Did we miss any of your favourite Hitchcock movie moments? And if you watch The Girl this weekend, share your thoughts with me below or on twitter.
