FINE ART ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY – MAKE A STATEMENT
When these images dropped into my inbox they blew my mind, are you ready for some Fine Art Engagement photography?
Today’s dreamy engagement session was the brainchild of Lucy Ridges. Lucy is not a wedding photographer but rather an award winning music, fashion and portrait photographic artist. In her own words Lucy brings “the inspiration, creativity and individualism of fine art photography into every portrait I take. There are no forced poses or cheesy smiles involved – just evocative, beautiful and spellbinding photographs.” Bride and Groom, Dave and Robyn received the engagement session as an early wedding gift. Dave is a prop designer so wanted to do something a little different and quite theatrical. Whilst Bride Robyn had previously seen an image of Lucy’s with a ‘flowers-on-face’ decoration and wanted something in a similar vein. And the results speak for themselves…
‘Fine Art photography’ has been the year’s wedding buzz word. There are no strict rules to define it but in general terms it’s artistic imagery that marries story-telling and surrealism; the type of images you may buy even if you weren’t in the bridal party. I’m particularly enamoured with double and multiple exposure which is “the superimposition of two or more exposures to create a single image.” Nice symbolism for two people coming together in marriage.
Far from offering a ‘one-size fits all’ service, Lucy treats every couple differently, capturing images that really reflect their personalities and relationship.
