A GUIDE TO FINDING THE PERFECT WEDDING MUSIC
Thought about the Music for your wedding day yet..? START thinking about it! If you’re having a day of wedmin this bank holiday Monday then music is a good topic for your planning. The music was such a key ingredient to our Wedding day, not only because we are huge music fans (Mr Bijou plays drums, DJ’s whilst I have a, shall we say eclectic music taste for every mood) but also because music is so emotive. It will set the tone of each and every part of your day. One team I really enjoy working with is Hitched Wedding Music who share my passion for a tune and also manage to come up with bespoke packages to cover all the day’s musical entertainment which makes planning that bit easier. I’ve asked Rosie who runs Hitched Wedding Music to share her pearls of wisdom on finding the perfect Wedding music. Over to Rosie…
Music is underrated. Especially at weddings. Maybe you’re already a convert – but if you’re thinking ‘it’s not that important… is it?’, read on my friend – I’m about to make a bold statement. Music is one of the three most important things to get right on your wedding day. (FYI 1. Venue 2. Dress 3. Music.) Invest in great music for your wedding day and trust me, you will NOT regret it. Music can transform your whole day for you and your partner, making your memories even more special. It can create and convey emotions in a way that nothing else can. The music you choose on your wedding day is, in fact, the soundtrack to the rest of your lives. No pressure.

– Firstly, plan out every moment where you need music. It’s easy to overlook something. There’s a handy little guide on our website which should help you with this!
– Your ceremony really sets the tone for the rest of your day. Plus, (hopefully) no one’s drunk at that point, so they’ll really remember it, unlike anything that happens speeches onwards. So make sure you really prioritise the music for this bit – it’ll make the difference between being the ceremony that fades into your guests memories (along with the rest), and the one that people remember and talk about for YEARS.

– Your party band… This is a daunting decision for couples – will they be any good? Will anyone dance? It’s important to research; our resident band TheKillerGroove, ARE good, your guests WILL dance… and they’re super nice too!
– DON’T WORRY if you haven’t got an ‘our song’. Not everyone does. Use recommendations from friends, or a small company such as Hitched who care lots about getting it just right for you. – Reserve the right to not be original. Some songs and pieces of music are classic… with good reason.

– BUT if you want to do something totally bonkers, go for it! We do flashmobs… just saying.
– Be true to yourselves…If you are getting married in a church, don’t feel like your music has to reflect the traditional surroundings… it doesn’t. You can walk down the aisle to whatever you darn well like! Likewise, if you’re getting married in a more un-traditional venue, why not make it super personal with music that really reflects you as a couple?
– Live is always best. Invest in high quality live music for your wedding day and you’ll remember it forever.
Well I hope that got you thinking and inspired with your musical entertainment choices. Check out Hitched Wedding Music’s site for more planning tips – www.hitchedweddingmusic.com
