ALERT – BIG WEDDING WEEKEND
To celebrate the year in which same sex marriage became legal, one of my favourite London spots the Southbank Centre is creating the Big Wedding Weekend.
Billed as “A new kind of wedding for a new era” London’s Southbank are inviting all couples – gay and straight, young and old – to join the party and get married or renew their vows on the iconic Royal Festival Hall stage. On 30th and 31st August you could be saying ‘I do’ or ‘I do again’ in front of your family and friends accompanied by choirs, fanfares and live music. Glass of bubbly in hand they’ve got all the key wedding arrangements covered with registrar, photographer, flowers and heaps of day-time and evening activities. A one stop solution if you’re looking for a cost-effective and unique way to celebrate your love.
It’s all part of the Southbank’s Festival of Love running 28th June to 31st August. So if the wedding idea isn’t your cup of tea you can still pop along and enjoy the rest of the festivities. I will be. There’s hundreds of artists, performances, installations, poetry, talks and pop-ups over the differently- themed weekends. All FREE. What’s not to like.
