5 KEY WEDDING STATIONERY TIPS WITH KATE RUTH ROMEY

My five key wedding stationery tips to remember when you get started with the paper good planning.

1. Start early
The sooner you can start researching/enlisting the services of your stationer the smoother the process for everyone. If you’re looking to send Save the Dates, it’s great to start about a year in advance of your wedding date, or if you’re going straight in to invitations then 9 months is

2. Think about numbers
It may sound obvious, but you don’t need to send an invitation or Save the Date to each guest, just per house hold. It’s also worth ordering an extra 10% which will give you room for asking a second batch of guests if you get a few declines.
Don’t forget the evening guests – it’s a good idea to order theirs at the same time as your day guests’.

3. When to send
If you’re sending Save the Date cards – six to eight months in advance is good, that way guests can clear their schedule, and it’ll still be fresh in their mind. Send your invitations up to 3 months in advance of the big day. Allow at least a month to respond, ensuring that you’ve set a deadline for around a month before the wedding day.

4. What to include
It’s a great idea to include a further details card with your invitations, this way you can give tips on transport, where to stay, gift list, dress code, and the sometimes tricky subject of adult only weddings. The more information you impart to your guests the fewer surprises/awkward questions.

5. ‘On the Day’ stationery
Don’t forget the stationery you may need on the day such as menus, Order of Service, place cards and table plan. You might use a combination of DIY, off-the-shelf and bespoke, but don’t forget to budget for them. Keep your stationer in the loop on this so that they can build the time in to their schedule.
